F.A.Q. Clean Garment

Why do you encourage your customers to purchase their wardrobe in complete outfits?

It only makes sense. In the long run, it is more economical to purchase everything at the same time. By coordinating colors, fabrics, and accessories, you can eliminate most buying mistakes. Also, you will find that you save time getting dressed in the morning! If you buy clothing this way, you can shop twice or three times a year, instead of six or seven, and still end up with a closet full of properly fitted and coordinated garments, making it easy to always look your best.

How often should I dry clean my garments?

Don’t dry-clean your garments too often. The more frequently a fabric is dry-cleaned, the faster it will break down. If a garment becomes wrinkled, then just ask the dry-cleaner to press it for you. Dry-clean only if the garment becomes stained or if it acquires an unwanted odor. This may surprise you, but the fact is: if you are dry cleaning your garments more than once three or four times a year, that probably is too often.

How do I care for custom-made shirts?

Always have your shirts laundered at a reliable dry-cleaner. Be sure to remove your collar stays before sending the shirts to the cleaners. Ask the cleaner to thoroughly tumble-dry the shirts before pressing them. Light to medium starch should be plenty to keep your shirts crisp. (Too much starch puts a strain on the fabric.)

What type of collars should I wear on my shirts?

  • The standard point collar is the most popular. It is found on the typical corporate dress shirt, and almost always worn with a tie. Simply put, it is a pointed collar.
  • A spread collar is a wider version of the point collar, but also worn with a tie. This tends to be a more fashionable type of collar.
  • The tab collar is becoming less popular. It is a point collar, but has a button or snap to be worn under the tie.
  • The button down collar is a more casual shirt. It can be worn with a tie, but generally is worn without one, particularly in a Business Casual environment.
  • The hidden button down is a popular style for sport shirts, but can also be worn with a tie. It has a button that is hidden under the point of the collar which ties it down to the shirt. This is a great alternative to the button down.

What does a thread count mean, such as Super 110’s, and 120’s?

This indicates the size of the threads used in making the garment. Generally speaking, the higher the thread count, the finer the fabric and the more expensive the garment. These finer fabrics are extremely luxurious, and their drape and luster is outstanding.
